FAQs

AutoKinex is a nationwide tolling service providing coverage on electronic toll roads in the United States, which together comprise 97% of the toll roads and bridges nationwide. View our Coverage Map for complete details. When you drive on AutoKinex-covered toll roads, we ensure the tolls are paid on time and then charge the credit card associated with your account. If you also have a connected vehicle and your data services are enabled for AutoKinex, you’ll receive toll-related messages on your infotainment screen. AutoKinex is built and provided by Verra Mobility, the global leader in mobility and toll management technology.

Your credit card will be used for tolls you incur and your monthly subscription fee.

No. AutoKinex is a pay-as-you-go toll solution. When you travel on a toll road in the AutoKinex coverage area, your credit card on file is used to pay for the toll at the time of processing. If we are unable to charge your credit card, your vehicles will be unenrolled from AutoKinex.

Go to app.autokinex.com or return to this site. You can also download the app to your phone from Apple Store or Google Play.

If you have a connected vehicle and your data services are enabled with one of our existing partners, you will receive toll-related messages on your infotainment screen when traveling on toll roads. Messages will close automatically after about 10-15 seconds. Subscribers of a vehicle without connected vehicle services can also use AutoKinex but will not see in-vehicle notifications.

The answer is generally yes.* AutoKinex enrolls your vehicle on a hub account that communicates with a majority of Toll Authorities across the USA.

Your Toll Authority account normally takes precedence over AutoKinex, meaning your existing Toll Authority account will handle toll payment, not AutoKinex. However, there may be situations where your Toll Authority is unable to bill your account, for example, if your transponder/tag fails to communicate with a toll gantry, your toll account is underfunded, or your vehicle travels outside of jurisdiction or interoperability. In cases like these, AutoKinex will pay the toll on your behalf and charge your credit card on file instead of your toll.

For toll roads that are not covered by AutoKinex, and for which you do not have a toll account, the Toll Authority will usually mail an invoice. You can also proactively contact the Toll Authority for payment to avoid any possible violations.

*Note that Colorado E470 and WsDOT do not currently allow AutoKinex to provide backup coverage to an existing account.

As one of the largest providers of tolls in the United States, AutoKinex has negotiated the best rates possible with the Toll Authorities in our Coverage areas. AutoKinex toll rates are usually comparable to transponder rates and are, in most cases, less than the cash rate. Toll rates can vary due to various factors including the issuing Toll Authority, time of day, congestion charges, and more. Unlike an individual Toll Authority account, AutoKinex covers you on 97% of the toll roads in the USA without opening and pre-funding additional accounts.
